A POODLE’S ADOPTION STORY TOLD IN HIS OWN WORDS
UP on a Midnight Sun follows the journey of Alalade. It began when he was dropped off at an animal shelter where he resided for eighteen nights. He was grieving the separation from his first
pet parent and trying to figure out why he was behind bars. He begins his story with a poignant question, “Are we in jail?”
After overhearing a shelter staffer ask, “I wonder why they gave him ‘UP’,” Alalade ponders the meaning of the tiny word ‘UP’ that intrigues him throughout his journey, even bugging him at times.
Following a visit from the sun at the midnight of his blues, Alalade learns the meaning of ‘UP.’ He is then able to rise on the wings of this mysterious sun, forgive and “fly” into brighter skies of gratitude for his first human for freeing him into a better life, one free of abuse.
